Video: RR74 Shadow Warrior

Well, this probably won’t be as entertaining as your typical random internet person making wild accusations and raging at corporate entitties, but hey, it’s easier than reading!

Thank goodness

I think the Christina Hendricks frenzy has finally died down, I only had a couple hundred hits the other day as opposed to the 8,000 I had at the peak. As cool as it was to see those high numbers for a bit, it actually led me to more dismay than elation. I knew they weren’t “real”, as in, they weren’t people interested in the content of my posts, or the greater community of gamers. It was some mere happenstance of preferential iconography that enticed the hordes to make my corner of networked computers a pit stop on their feverish hunt for the latest popular gossip.

With the settling of visitors to the status quo, I’m happy to return to the topic du jour: MMOs.

I got to play WAR for maybe an hour last night, and I surprisingly spent my entire time out in ORvR. It was a group plus spare of guildies, filled in with friends and alliance members. We quickly found us facing an interesting situation that happens far too rarely: only one pairing was open for contention. Order had locked the Empire/Chaos pairing and Destruction had done the same to the Elven one, warfare descended upon the oft-overlooked Dwarven/Greenskin lands, and Kadrin Valley in specific.

Bouncing in my seat

bounceI went ahead and re-upped my WAR account. I can’t stay away from the game if I KNOW there is about to be heavy hitting in the game, and we all know, they day of a server transfer is going to be some of the heaviest, best fighting around. Not to mention, it’s the best chance I’ll have to get a first taste of the new blood, and hopefully hide behind a name change for a while where people won’t go, “Kill Kahla.”

I’m excited and having a very difficult time getting anything done at work today. Thank God the boss is still out on vacation till Tuesday of next week. See you soon Gorfang!

The Day the Music Died

080707-F-2171A-1315It hasn’t been as traumatic as the death of three musicians, but LotD has overall, been detrimental to the life on the server I call home, Ironfist. As I said in an earlier post, the unintended results of LotD had been amazing PvP, incredible fights, and a riot of a good time. Sadly, this didn’t last. The destruction on my server rarely take control of LotD, and when they do, all PvP stops. It becomes the proverbial immovable object. For the next two hours, at least, Order on Ironfist is stuck doing PvE content to try and take back control. As such, my guild has been doing everything we possibly can to prevent Destruction from EVER getting into LotD. It’s not out of some bitter, petty desire to stop them from seeing new content. No, our actions stem from a deep-rooted self centered need to have fun in this game, and that means having people to play against.

Bought damn time

tokensThis.

I don’t know about your server, but on mine, it’s a freakin’ standstill. We’ve had a grand total of 4 city attacks, if my memory serves. I also believe I mentioned before  how the new hotness is to open up a Fortress for attack, and then farm belts. Tokens, as they seem to be getting implemented, are a huge boon to my server, and may bring back life to this game for me. A large portion of my frustration has been an inability to advance in ANY aspect of the end-game. PvE dungeons, RvR campaign, or gear progression. All of these avenues have been blockaded on my road to uber-ness.

1.2.1

121-ae-diagramWell, a preview of the patch notes were put up, and discussed in two seperate places. The one from MbJ can be found here, and it is just a general preview of what will be coming out with this update. For a subsidary patch, it sounds like it is pretty hefty, which usually means good things. There was no explicit mention of Shadow Warriors anywhere in the mix here, so my hopes and dreams aren’t soaring at any moment. Conversely, there was no mention of any class, so I’m not really hurt about it either. It just is what it is.

Sabotage

sabotageSo, in my continuing evolution with this game, we should all be aware that I’ve dropped my Shadow Warrior until such time that they become worth a shit. In my mean-time, I’ve been playing my Warrior Priest. The play is similar to that of my Disciple of Khaine, but better. It’s interesting how far these classes have come since launch, they were strong classes then, but there have been little tweaks and changes that make them really shine, and place them in one of the few categories of classes that I consider “there”. There being almost perfectly balanced. That balance shows.

An Homage

yankeessuckkidWell, in a fun and interesting post, it spurred me on to give a giant transmittal of emotion to a group of people. To all of those band-jumping, come-lately, lazy bastards who try to profit off of the work of those who came before you, this message is for you. That message… F U C K   Y O U.

Oh, but it’s hard

witch-hunterI’m trying not to be insanely jealous. Really, I am. Mythic is making it more and more difficult as time goes by though. First I see Engineers getting nothing but mad-love, and everyone and their sister squabbling for lack of them. They want magnet pullers, and crazy AoE grenades. Visions of Napalm flash in their eyes. Now Bright Wizards are fuckin’ ridonculous. We had a group in one warband of five Bright Wizards and one Warrior Preist. They wrecked house, and not only melted faces, but the bone beneath the face as well. I saw puddles of destruction players evaporate into the air it was so god-damn hot in there. I can live with this, I’ll be unhappy, but I can live with it. So, maybe I’m lowest on the totem-pole of ranged damage classes, well, at least I can compete with Witch Hunters… oh wait.

Chicken or the Egg?

chicken-eggSo, this week while I was sick, I was able to get some gaming time in. A lot of gaming time actually. Don’t really have anything better to do than sit around and read the forums, play the game, and pray to the porcelain god that whatever virus had invaded my body leave quickly. Our server had their first assault on a city on Tuesday with the release of zone Domination. Destruction orchestrated (though they deny having plans ahead of time) a great late night assault and zone locking that lasted well into the AM hours, when the majority of people are asleep. So, of course there is much heated argument over at our servers forum on WHA. Retaliation is a bitch though, and on Thursday, Order bit back.
