Impressive

Best video I’ve seen to date for the Eve is Real campaign. This was insanely well done.

European Colleagues

In case you weren’t paying attention, this last weekend, Games Workshop held their Gamesday event in the UK. Those WAR fans out there should take special note of this, because Andy Belford flew over there to take part in the event and to reveal gobs of information to the fans, and our great Euro Bloggers were there to get all the information.

  • Start with WarAura, which has an amazing write-up conglomeration of a mass of info.
  • Then head to Bruglir’s Blog, who has a similar write-up, with his own twist.
  • Later on, head to Bootae’s Bloody Blog, who supposedly will have something up, eventually. Until then, check out his pretty pictures!
  • The Price of Wargh! already has some commentary and responses to the news. Find out why he is underwhelmed.
  • Werit, in his typical freakishly-early morning post schedule, talks briefly about the Skaven.
  • Skar gives Mythic props for their willingness to change things, but is dubious about the direction micro-transactions may take WAR.

It’s early still, and I expect a lot more to come from the WAR blog community as well as maybe a few chirps here and there from those who pay attention to MMOs in general. Oh, wait, you want MY commentary and thoughts on all these announced changes so far? Well, golly gee-wilikers, follow the jump, and you may just get it.

Underdog

Adam Gershowitz briefly explains the underdog system. As he says himself, it’s a simple system. I’ve remained mostly quiet on the system itself, not really having a fully realized opinion on the matter yet. It seems like it can be a good thing, but I can also see it being nothing more than a speed-bump for the dominating side, as opposed to an actual boon to the losers. Honestly though, I’m okay with that. If they could just get realm balance down, the underdog system would be far more beneficial I think. Anyway, have a read of it if you have somehow missed this news.

Hitting the Wall

Hitting that wall is a bitch.

Hitting that wall is a bitch.

I’ve got a pair of different topics I want to talk about right now, one is about the current state of the game in Warhammer. Specifically, the campaign and the road in general to stage 2 of a city invasion. The other, is a juvenile desire I’m strongly trying to suppress. So, I’m going to go with the WAR topic in hopes of being a better person for it. Come back later for the scathing, petulant, adolescent mud-flinging.

The big topic of discussion for those playing in the Warhammer world right now seems to be city sieges and realm balance. In particular how people are doing with the sieges and in large part how the realm balance is affecting that. My home server of Gorfang is interesting in that we’re the only one with Altdorf still at 5 stars, while IC is down to two. However, the vast majority of servers have Destro as the clear dominant faction in the eternal struggle of WAR.

See-saw

see-sawOn my server, Order has been pounding the ever-living snot out of Destruction for the past month and a half. We’ve pushed into their city multiple times per week on most weeks. Yes, the stage one instance of the invasion is a bit lackluster, and yes there are bugs that need to be worked out, but that is not what I want to talk about today. Today, I want to talk about realm balance. I would love to hear from other players what their realm is like now, has been like, and the evolutions it has made. I find it interesting to see community ebb and sway as time goes on, and the way the mood strikes them as a collective whole. I clearly remember at launch order players screaming about  how overpowerd, better looking, and just more well thought out the side of destruction was. Now, as I read through the forums, I see the players of destruction saying the same about order.
