Way to kill the mood

Good job.

Built up good energy, good press, good feelings from all over. Only minor voices here and there said it looked WoW-ish. I was willing to overlook stylistic appearance similarities if it meant significantly different gameplay and design directions. Except now you had to start down this path. Way to make the collective anticipating audience flaccid.

I know. Nothing like premature WoWalation

    Well, there goes that.

    NEXT!!

Aye trailer looked pretty decent on its own strength, this kind of stupid hyperbole just comes across as desperate. Totally unneeded.

When I saw the UI in the E3 trailer I knew there was something fishy going on. FFS give us PS2!

It’s far to early to make any judgements about this title, you’ve seen one trailer. It would be better to hold your own counsel and wait for a lot more information to come out before making any decisions.

Remember this is a sci fi title, based on a very good interlectual property and therefore will be in a completely different market place to WoW.

I grant you that the comments made, if trully made by this guy are a little bit knobbish, but enthusiam isn’t a bad thing, if tempered with a healthy dose of reality.

We all know how easy it is for a title to get a 1 million subscriptions, it’s holding onto the little suckers that’s the real mark of a game and hints at it’s true staying power.

And that’s really the crux of the matter. Coming out of the gate, making those kind of claims, we’ve seen before. Hell we saw it with the current Warhammer IP MMO. The parallels are not good. I love WAR, and believe it to be a strong game that is solid and profitable, but it is often seen as a massive failure because of comments very akin to this.

I’m making no judgments on the game, I merely think that this statement killed the mood around it some. It previously was a calm, dignified confidence, much like what we see with SW:TOR. Let the game hype itself, especially when we’re still three years out!

I think he will learn from his comments and be a little bit more reserved. If he learns nothing else from Warhammer, it’s got to be, don’t short change the players with in complete areas, like ORvR.

I’ve seen a couple people say it looks WoWish.

I’m yet to find the same trailer they must have watched.

To be honest, I tend to trust my own judgemends on art style. People said Warhammer was the same sytle as Wow, yes of course it was, if you said orcs were greenish and powerfully built, while dwarfs were short and had beards. Some people are just knobs, that’s the truth of the matter.
