Last night my first child was born. It was a long and difficult labor of 12 hours for my wife, only to end in a cessarion section. Archer Gail Karstaedt came into the world at 1:53 AM, just shy of 7 pounds and 20 inches. Due to some minor complications, she is being observed in the NICU, but no serious problems are expected. I’m working on less than four hours of sleep and doing thus from my iPhone, so I’ll give you more when I can. Say hello to my daughter.

You couldn’t ask for a better holiday gift than this – however I would not envy the many sleepless nights the two of you have ahead!
Thank you everyone, it means a lot. Baby and mommy are fine. Baby is breathing room air on her own as of five hours ago. Mommy just wants to take a shower. I have run home to do that myself and pick up some needed things, like a phone charger!

Congratulations, hope the process wasn’t too much of a mental strain, and if so, I hope you’re finally able to relax again!
Congrats! Enjoy all your time with her, they grow up way too fast. My daughter is now 15 and I so miss the little girl that once was. I love her now as much as I did, but she was so precious.

She’s (Your baby) not going to be very happy about a near christmas day birthday.
I hope your wife is well. The 1st couple of months will fly by as you struggle to cope with the complete switch in your lifes.
The only thing I will say, is never assume you have your finger on the pulse, since as soon as you do, the pattern will change.
Got to go, my 2 year old is tell my to sit down/come.
Haha! Thanks for the advice, and yeah, the first thing we thought of when the doctor told us he had to induce was that she was going to hate us for the birthday.
Congratz, its REALLY the bet thing there is in live, (exept the smelly dipers, lol , pyuuuuck) I’m just 23 and yesterday my daughter turned 1 ( born on 31/12/2008) and sinds monday i know we are going to have a 2nd one.
