Umm… what? Really?

He won a Nobel prize for what? Having a plan? Talking about things he wants to do? Telling people to play nice? Hell, I have a plan. I don’t start fights, if this is the criteria for the prize, their requirements have taken a nose-dive. Hell, I thought it was ridiculous when Al Gore won it for “increasing awareness of global warming and efforts to counter-act it”.

As an aside, how much do you love it being called “climate change” now instead of global warming. Also,  many scientists basically said, “Yeah, about that…”

I don’t often take any political stance here, but come on, the prestige of what was supposed to be one of the highest awards and recognitions we handed out to our fellow man has been given to a junior senator who never drafted his own bills, abstained from partaking in the vast majority of votes presented to him, and has been President of the United States for less than a year? What EXACTLY has he accomplished to be deserving of this. What precise, tangible affect has he had upon the world at large to warrant such an honor? Come on Norway, surely someone else out there has furthered the cause of human rights and invention more fully than President Obama. This feels like the pandering of an organization, using what should be an apolitical tool to increase an agenda. The respect I had for this honor just took a huge nose dive.

Sorry, you may now return to your regular gaming happiness.

If anyone deserved it this year, it was Morgan Tsvangairi, just for putting up with Mugabe.

Apparently he won the Nobel Peace Prize of the “Not being George Bush” category.

As much as I like the guy, it only seems to trivalise and undermines the award.

That’s kind of my point. I heard his acceptance speech, and he’s right on the money in one portion of it, he doesn’t deserve it. He was smart in his acceptance speech by taking it in the spirit of the nation working toward a peaceful global community. Of course, he couldn’t have taken it in any other fashion without looking like a complete egoist, as is, I think this is not going to help him any in the public eye, and all the Nobel Council did was lower their standing in the world view.

  4. I woke up this morning to the Nobel Prize being awarded to someone for what he would like to see happen and do, to Marge Simpson being the covergirl of Playboy, and a rocket itting the moon- which wasn’t so weird except everyone seemed disappointed when there wasn’t a large explosion (apparently people don’t realize that the moon is fairly essential to life as we know it) so I’m not sure what is up with the world today, but it has been a strange one.
