From “Meh” to fucking pissed

angryIncoming rant. If you don’t want to read a long wall of text full of expletives and crazy frothing at the mouth, I suggest you skip this post and move on to gentler pastures. I was awaiting confirmation on some things before I went here, and now I have it, and the cage to the angry beast just swung open.

Mythic, what the fuck were you thinking? According to the Shadow Warriorcommunity, you’ve fucked up even more than we gave you credit for. The tactic Keen Arrowheads has been broken on live for months now. The tactic Enchanted Arrows was broken from day one of the PTS. The tactic Bullseye is now broken on live. Three tactics for the class now FUBAR. Three very-fucking-important tactics for a couple of different plays styles. One of those god-damn tactics (Enchanted Arrows) is the heart-and-soul of an entire fucking specialization tree. This shit had been reported many, many times on the PTS. There have been multiple posts about it on the official forums. It was never fixed!

How the hell can you sit there with a straight face and tell us that everything will be okay, or that “Shadow Warriors are definitely not getting any worse with this patch.” and then release a slew of KNOWN bugs  that handicap so much of this class. Bullseye only works off of melee skills! On a ranged DPS class, good fucking job. This shit isn’t easy, but it’s made a hell of a lot easier when we TELL you about the problems doesn’t it? That’s what you’re asking for. You get communication from us, but you do nothing with it.  How can you expect any Shadow Warrior players to take this company serious, and remain subscribed when you have an absolutely epic failure like this.

The closest we have gotten to a response is ONE message in response to the Bullseye bug, saying they’re aware and it’s in the tracker. Great! How about the OTHER two tactics that are cripplingly broken? This on top of the already insanely difficult state the class sits. We were promised that our stanceless state would be fixed in 1.2.1, we were promised we would not get any worse with this patch. When promises get broken repeatedly, they start looking like lies. Hey, thanks for removing the UF nerf, but it doesn’t mean much if all of the options for the class are completely destroyed.

The real kick in the nuts, is that two of these tactics worked perfectly fine in the previous version of the game! You broke two of these on test, and the community let you know! So the only answer is that you KNOWINGLY released bugs into the game! Get your head out of your asses and fix this shit. It’s amateur-hour, kids-league bullshit, and not what anyone expects out of a triple-A MMO. I don’t play this card often, but this is the reason why you don’t have the subscription numbers you guys hyped up. This is the reason why so many bloggers have dropped their WAR-specific stories. We all saw how many bones got sent to previous WAR only blogs that are now general gaming. This is why people are dropping subscriptions at a steady rate. You piss off a whole bunch of people with these kind of actions.

couldnt have put it better myself. except i would have maybe used even more naughty words.. maybe mentioned more of how their QA team makes their whole company look shockingly bad. perhaps mythic needs to start again? business wise.. maybe try making some flash games first.. and work upwards to more complicated things like MMOs.

considering changing WHA forum sig to “Shadow Warriors are definitely not getting any worse with this patch. – AdamG”

    thats fried gold right there.

I imagined Pantera playing in the background of this piece. Rock on.

  3. Grimnir says:

Man, Shadow Warriors just get all the love from Mythic. /endsarcasm

I feel for ya man. Way to take it no lube extra rubber. I don’t know how they could possibly screw up a tactic when they didn’t work on any C&C in the patch anyway. There’s gotta be some genius in the C&C department getting flogged over this…

Your hate has made you powerful indeed….We making Siths in The Old Republic together?

The oddest thing is, no changes to these tactics was even announced – what were they actually trying to do when they broke these?

Is the code to this game so convoluted that one classes abilities can be changed when modifications are made to something else entirely?

I really think that they used some non-standard form of coding or something, and that’s why we’re always seen off-shoot errors and bugs. It also could be tied into when they were looking at all the C&C stuff that they were poking around with these tactics, and when they “reverted” the changes, they didn’t actually fix it.

  6. Radishlaw says:

They don’t have any special “form of coding”, I believe it is a problem of poor versioning.

Their build are not modular, and changes have to be one time. That would explain why they keep pushing large patches, because they can’t isolate one fix/change and see the effect, and instead has to test them all at the same time. This is extra problematic when there are additional changes – for example pulling out C&C changes in 1.3.

But ultimately, it seems they either not have enough resources to do through testing, or they are quite careless in that regard.

At the very least after suggesting that format of bug report, they seems to be much more willing to response and address the issues. A few items on the SW list has been acknowledged or even scheduled to be fixed. I am guessing if we show that it is easily reproduced they can fix it faster.

That’s a really scary baby photograph and I just felt the need to comment.

Sad. I’m finally back in town and I was looking forward to playing my SW and getting to 25 so I can see the new lands when they come out. Seems like I’ll just be wasting time.
