New heights of Nerddom

So, yes, I’ve reached a new height of infatuation with the game, as well as gone the extra nerd mile, in my nerd-mobile, while playing my nerd-horn.
I’ve made a PvP video. You can find it below.

Whoever may be reading this right now, needs to go here. I’m a nerd for grammar stuff, and even though I often get it wrong, I still love the intricacies of the English language, and the crazy things that can come out of a person’s mouth. Ariwyn is also an active member of the Warhammer Alliance community, and is a part of the WCPI, despite the non-game focus of the blog. So much love.
Examples: “A whole nother”, sticking a word (whole) in between letters of an already existing word (another) is not cool. The word irregardless is awful grammar, means the same as regardless, and is burning my insides right now, because my Firefox spellchecker is not recognizing irregardless as a typo, and even worse still, the WordPress spell check recognizes when the word is spelled wrong, and gives “irregardless” as an option! Oh my soul, it hurts, it hurts.
Anyway (I use this gem of an error a LOT), definitely adding this one to my blogroll. I’m also realizing I have to start chopping that list into different catagories, friends, Warhammer, etc…

So, as I said a while back, I played my DoK and I liked it. I was toying with my Blackguard, and trying to get some fun out of him instead, which, now that I think back, I’m not really sure why. I realized I like my Disciple, but chose to play a different character instead. Yeah, I baffle myself at times. Sometimes, I think someone else is controlling my brain, I analyze a situation, see what would lead to a better result, and choose something else anyway. It’s as if some masochistic drive to be unhappy is pushing me away from my Disciple. What force could possibly be strong enough to deter a strong-willed and headstrong individual such as myself?

Don’t know why, but I’m feeling very much like filling out questionaires and do random, non-serious blog stuff today. You can thank Syp for this one.
First MMO Played?
Non-MUD? Ultima Online
First Character Class/Role Played?
Ultima Online was skill based, and I was going for a heavily armored knight-type of role.
First MMO Subscribed For More Than A Consecutive Year?
EQ2
First MMO You Fell In Love With?
SWG
First Guild You Really Felt Attached To?
Iconoclast in EQ2. I left because I felt frustrated with my class, and guild progression, and I publicly talked to another guild about joining them, but decided against it, and quit the game altogether for the most part. I tried to keep in touch with some of the members, and would re-sub for a month or two at a time around xpacs and what not, but one of the officers of the guild (who quit well before I did), mocked me on the forums after I told them about getting laid-off 10 days after my wedding, probably one of the least classy things I have ever seen anyone do on the internet. Tanek, if you’re out there ever, and you read this, I’m talking to you.
First Character/Game You Leveled To End Cap?
Maybe “Loupine” in SWG? Again, was skill based, so was a bit difficult to determine, but I had mastered multiple skills and was having to un-learn things to finish new careers, so I guess that counts. As for a hard “level” cap, would be Rrin in EQ2, at 50, and 60. Then Lope in EQ2 to 60, and 70. Rrin to 70. Lope to 80. That’s the order as expansions came down the pipes.
First “Wow” Moment In A MMO?
Plopping down a house in UO, and being able to know that I had a piece of virtual land, at the age of 14 (I think that’s how old I was).
First MMO You Burned Out On?
EQ2, see above.
First MMO You Followed Avidly Prior To Launch?
WAR, I was aware of most other games prior to launch, but WAR was a serious love of mine. I think my join date on Warhammer Alliance is November 2006? I was following it before then, but didn’t feel the need to join any message boards until that time.
First Time You Felt Truly Noobish In A MMO?
Other than UO, EvE. Most MMOs I haven’t had real trouble figuring anything out, or really feeling like I just made a huge mistake that noone else would have made. EvE is a different beast, I feel mentally assaulted when I try to figure that game out.
First MMO You Went Alt-Crazy In?
City of Heroes. That game just DEMANDS alts out of you.

There was a thread on my home server’s forum over at Warhammer Alliance that was actually an interesting topic (you can read it here). The whole point of the topic was to list the 24 classes in order. The order of why is determined by the person making the list. Some people are posting in order of most successful in RvR, some as the most fun, others as most desirable. As the original poster of the thread stated, the order of the list, and reason for the order shows a lot about the player, and how you approach the game. I’d love to see all the bloggers out there throw up their list of 24, below you will find mine. I chose to base mine on how much fun I perceive each class to be. Hope to see you all have a go at it!

This.
Thanks to Ethic at Kill Ten Rats for making me aware of this.
I am quite excited about this game coming up, I’m a comic book nerd, and love cell-shaded stuff, so this seems full of win.

My Lost Vale reunited for the first time since the updates last night to jump on into this dungeon and see what new and exciting ways Mythic had created to kill us. Or more accurately, what things had Mythic fixed so that the bosses could no longer be bugged out and cleared in less than three hours. So, around 8 PM EST, our intrepid group of adventurers hoped a boat-ride to dangers of the vale.

As I’m sure we’re all well aware, the Live Event is today in its fourth day after release, and the recent update of 1.2.1 has been out for about a week now, and this is going to be my post going over my impressions of the two systems as a whole. I’ve had time to experience and really digest what the changes from 1.2.1 have made to the game, and I have been all the way through this most recent of live events, so I think I can discuss it without qualm now.

This is what my final post was going to be. I can’t say for certain what it is, but the last few weeks has seen a crazy reemergence of fun for me with my Shadow Warrior, particularly the last week. Maybe it’s the major haul I got from LV, or the casting changes that make me feel like I can actually kill people now. I’m sure it’s a conglomerate of a lot of little things that make a brighter picture for me, but I did re-up my account. The game, and the Shadow Warrior, is fun again. We still need a LOT of work, but I think I can see a pin-prick of light at the end of the tunnel. Here’s hoping it’s not a train.
Edit for clarification: I am not quitting, my blog is still going to run, below is the post I had waiting when I thought I was going to quit, but recent changes have made this unneeded, I merely posted it so that others could see where I was at, and how I was thinking over the last month or so.

Syp made a great post (par for the course).
People may find this ironic, but I agree. Elves are the WORST racial option for any class, ever. Most of the time, I would much, much rather play a Human. It’s ironic considering that the only classes I have played seriously in this game have been elves. When the game first came out, I wanted to play a melee healer, and I was set up with a guild that decided to go destro before-hand, so I was stuck with the disciple (groan!). Then I tried out the Blackguard because he was supposed to be the offensive tank (/face_palm). Through it all though, I wanted to play an archer, but I hate, HATE pet classes… hello Shadow Warrior (mumble).
